In 1942, iron again replaced bronze until 1952 and the silver content of the other coins was reduced.

A new 5-kronor coin was designed in 1974, at a time when there were political efforts to abandon the monarchy and the young inexperienced king.
This also included the reintroduction of the 2-krona coin, while the current 10-krona coin remained the same.
